Used Household Goods and Personal Effects

Documents Required

  • Passport
  • Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Original bill of lading (OBL) / air waybill (AWB)

 

Specific Information

  • A foreigner may import household goods and personal effects duty free under the following conditions:
    • They have diplomatic status or work for an NGO
    • A letter is obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs verifying the owner of the goods' diplomatic status or employment with an NGO and requesting Customs to permit duty-free import
  • The owner of the goods do not have to be present for Customs clearance, however, the owner of the goods' employer must be registered and issue a letter on company letterhead stating that the owner of the goods is employed in Cambodia.

 

Motor Vehicles

Documents Required

  • Passport
  • OBL
  • Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Letter from the Ministry of Finance

 

Specific Information

  • A foreigner may import a motor vehicle under the following conditions:
    • They have diplomatic status or work for an NGO
    • A letter is obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs verifying the owner of the goods' diplomatic status or employment with an NGO and requesting Customs to permit duty-free import.
  • All automobiles must be left-hand drive.

 

Pets

Documents Required

  • Vaccination record
  • Veterinary health certificate

 

Specific Information

  • Most pets, including dogs, cats and birds, can be imported with no quarantine period required.
  • The health certificate must be issued within 7 days of import.

 

Restricted/Dutiable Items

  • Human remains and body parts
  • Firearms, weaponry and their parts
  • Perishable food items
  • Live animals (some species / breeds permitted; contact agent for details)
  • Plant and plant materials

 

Prohibited Items

  • Batteries
  • Acids, chemicals, corrosives, gases, infectious substances, oxidizers, radioactive substances, etc.
  • Flammable substances
  • Alcohol
  • Perfumes
  • Poisons
  • Tobacco
  • Paints
  • Pornographic materials

 

Consignment Instructions

Recommended: Contact the destination agent to ensure all requirements have been met prior to import, especially for differences regarding air / sea shipments.
